Kim Grant, head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, has said, he is building a young and formidable team for the future with a long term vision, of bringing laurels to the club.

According to Grant, the ongoing Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee Special Competition, was just a short term league, to keep clubs and players active, adding that he was using that to prepare a winsome team for the proper league.

The former Black Stars player, who was answering questions after his side beat Ebusua Dwarfs by 2:1 in the fourth day of the special competition in Accra noted that, he had to assemble a relatively young team for this competition and inculcate in them a winning mentality that would be beneficial to Hearts of Oak in future.

“Hearts of Oak is in transition now, we have a long term project we are building on, where we would do our best to build good infrastructure and atmosphere for quality players in the future.

“The NC Competition is just a short term tournament, which clubs are using to assess their players and to keep clubs busy as well, which would yield the desired results when we finally get a well-structured and long term league going on in the country,” he said.

According to Grant, he understands the supporters always want a win, but it was also important that they bear with the team, as they build the confidence and morale of the young players at their disposal.

Two goals from Hearts of Oak forward Joseph Esso and a consolation from Bright Nurudeen ended the game at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts of Oak are back to winning ways from losing two out of the four matches played so far, with Dwarfs losing all four.
