Microsoft is now free of Department of Justice oversight stemming from a 1998 high-profile antitrust case. Microsoft said the experience changed "how we view our responsibility to the industry." In anticipation of the DOJ oversight expiring, Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5 billion and expects to integrate it into Microsoft products.
