On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, the Voice of America (VOA) reported that Nigeria, the most significant nation among the membership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), had taken the bold and purposeful initiative of recognizing the rebel-led Libyan Transitional Council as the �legitimate representative� of the aspirations of freedom and democracy-hungry Libyans.
