Akufo-Addo: Election 2012 Is About Ghanas Future

The 2012 general election is about the future of our country. Whether we will continue in this current visionless retrogression and mediocrity or whether Ghana will move forward again were the words of the 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, when he addressed the fishing community in Winneba, Egyaa, Anomabo and Moree Thursday. The NPP leader was addressing the people as part of his nationwide tour to restore hope. He told the fishermen in Moree that in 2008, the NDC came round to make all manner of promises to you, but what has happened since they won the power? Your lives have rather been made worst off with the doubling and tripling of the prices of outboard motors and pre-mix fuel. The NPP flag bearer assured them that all hope is not lost. When the NPP comes back to power, we will resurrect the Fisheries Ministry and continue all the good initiatives that President Kufuor started. Nana Addo also noted: the Ghanaian people are the best judges of what is happening in Ghana today. If you are happy about your living conditions you know what to do in December but if you are feeling the pain and suffering that majority of the people are battling with, then you need to show President Mills and his NDC the red card and peacefully retire them. At Egyaa in the Mfantseman West constituency, Chief fisherman, Nana Kwame observed: President Mills has brought unprecedented hardships to fishermen, contrary to what he promised us when he was campaigning. He added: in 2008, outboard motors used to cost 2,500 cedis and was supplied to us on hire-purchase arrangements. Mills came to tell us that he will reduce the price but today, outboard motors cost almost 8,000 cedis and the hire-purchase agreement has also been scrapped. At Winneba, Kow Appiah, a known NDC supporter announced his defection to the NPP and said his decision to leave the NDC is because President Mills has been a disappointing leader. He has reversed all the gains of the President Kufuor administration and has not been able to do anything new for us. All we hear is that his government has given huge sums of money to one man who does not even deserve that kind of money, he said.
