Nana Addo To Name Running-Mate By April 1

Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Esseku says Ghanaians should expect a running mate for its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, within the next few days. Nana Addo is yet to announce the person to partner him ahead of the December polls. He deferred the naming of his vice presidential candidate until March at a crucial meeting of the party�s National Council of Elders when he was expected to do so. Speaking to XYZ News, Mr. Esseku assured that the party will name a running-mate for Nana Addo before April 1. He said Nana Addo is supposed to submit the name of the candidate to be approved by the National Executive Council in due course and this is expected to be done when Nana Addo takes a break from his nationwide tour in a few days. He said the party will ensure that whoever is chosen will be capable of taking up the challenge to help the party win the December polls. A number of names have been mentioned as potential candidates for the position. The front runners are Former GFA chairman Alhaji MND Jawula, deputy minority leader, Ambrose Dery and former running mate to Nana Addo in the 2008 General Elections, Dr. Mahmud Bawumia.
