Farmers at Saafi/Esase Electoral Area in Kwahu West District are calling on the government to come to their aid with spraying machines to enable them control pests and diseases that attack their plants.
In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com the Assembly man for Saafi/Esase Electoral Area, Frimpong Manso stated that farmers spend a lot of money hiring spraying machines and believes that if they are provided with a number of them, monies spent on hiring these machines could be invested on other important resources on the farm.
He added that he has noticed the fall in production on farms ever since the spraying machines that were provided them got broken and farmers have complained bitterly about this situation as pests and diseases keeping destroying their plants.
He advised that boost in productivity of farm produce could also be possible if farmers are offered some basic farm tools such as cutlasses and hoes to expand their farms.
Mr. Frimpong Manso also appealed to the Assembly to support the area in tarring their roads as the poor state of the road has made conveying of perishable farm produce to other market centres very difficult.
