Mob Justice: Robber Beaten Close To Death

An alleged robber was beaten close to his death at Batsonaa Spintex Road on Thursday morning. The burglar was not spared when residents ambushed him, battering him with clubs, stones and all kinds of objects that came to sight. The suspected robber sustained deep cuts all over his body and the merciless mob had to tie his hands to his back and forced him into a car tyre threatening to set him ablaze. He was left motionless, haggard and struggled to breath when Citifmonline.com arrived at the lynching scene. An eyewitness told Citifmonline.com that three of the robbers managed to escape. A police patrol team came around, but they refused to help because they seem tired from night patrol duties, an eyewitness, who gave his name only as Mintah said. We wanted to teach the robbers a lesson. Who should work for someone to come and chop within minutes. Well kill him so that next time when he returns to this world he will learn to work for his own money, the eyewitness added. The issue of mob justice is rampant in most areas of Ghana and has generated national discussions over the years. Locals have resorted to instant justice because they claim the justice system is too slow, an assertion the Judiciary of Ghana has debunked.
