The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has alleged the ruling NDC paid huge judgment debt to embattled businessman Alfred Woyome as part of a scheme to loot the nation. He claimed such an act could never occur under his watch hence Ghanaians should vote for him massively to save the economy. The main opposition flagbearer told a gathering during his tour of the Greater Accra region that they should not give room to politicians whose objectives are to assume power to deplete the nation�s kitty, but should consider those who are selfless and ready to help the populace improve their wellbeing. He reiterated his commitment to fight corruption when elected president. According to Nana Addo, his administration will not condone the illegal payment of monies to undeserving individuals and institutions. �If you want to do politics then be ready to sacrifice for the nation to move forward,� Nana Addo told the chiefs and fisher folks in the coastal communities. �Politics is not a profession aimed at looting the nation.� In an apparent reference to the Woyomegate scandal, Nana Addo said: �Because they want to loot the nation they pay huge amount of money to undeserving people. Woyome could never happen under Akufo-Addo�s presidency. It could never happen.� He urged the Ghanaian electorate to participate in the upcoming biometric voter registration and vote massively for the NPP in December.
