Bright Future Ahead Nana

The 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, believes better days are ahead for Ghana if the necessary investments are made to enhance the lives of its people. He said, A country that was originally called the Gold Coast cannot have majority of its people continue to wallow in poverty and deprivation, and I am determined to lead the NPP to come back to power to build on the solid foundation that President Kufuors administration left behind. Addressing members of the fishing community along the coast of the Greater Accra Region yesterday, the NPP leader noted that even though President Mills and his NDC government have reversed many of the gains of the Kufuor administration, all hope is not lost. When the NPP comes back, God willing under my leadership, we will put our country to work again and restore hope and confidence in the Ghanaian people, he added. Nana Akufo-Addo, Wednesday, took his hope tour to the Greater Accra Region, touring the coastal areas of Ada, Sege, Akpablanya, Ningo and Kpone, where he once again reiterated his commitment to providing free senior high school education for all. Stressing the need for Ghana to make that massive but much needed investment into its educational sector, the NPP flagbearer remarked that there can be no greater issue at stake for our future than the education of our children. Responding to the concerns of drastic increases in the prices of outboard motors and premix fuel, Nana Addo told the fishermen that one of the first things his administration would do would be to bring back the fisheries ministry to help solve the problems of the fishing community. He told fishermen and members of the fishing community that he could not fathom how such a vital ministry could be dissolved, bearing in mind the many problems that the fishing industry continued to face. I am not talking about having a deputy minister in charge of fisheries under another ministry. I am talking about having a full ministry with a minister and perhaps a deputy, fully engaged in making sure that all the problems that you have put before me today, are solved quickly and sustainably, Nana Akufo-Addo stated. He added that the NPP was determined to bring everybody on board as we strive to improve the living conditions of the Ghanaian people. Nana Addo said, It is obvious to all today that President Mills and his government have nothing to offer the people. Four years on and there is still nothing positive to show. I have said and I maintain that his performance is poor and the record is weak and I am confident that come December, the Ghanaian people will make the right choice. A choice that will help make the required investment in our youth, prioritise quality teaching and the needs of the teacher, address the skill needs and jobs for the youth of Ghana, expand access to healthcare, empower Ghanaian businesses, rebuild the nations infrastructure, fight corruption, tackle the housing issues of urban Ghana, and transform the structure of the Ghanaian economy through value addition to agriculture, industrialisation and greater access to cheaper credit and technology for small and medium scale enterprises in Ghana, he added.
