Water Policies Will Meet Needs Of People E.T Mensah

Government has emphasized its commitment to keep faith with its obligations and policies of ensuring that water and food security meets the need of most vulnerable communities within the country. According to government a number of interventions have been geared towards water and food security including water saving and storage mechanisms and practices in rain-fed and irrigated areas as well as reduction of water and food losses and safe re-use of waste water in agriculture. The Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing and MP for Ningo-Prampram, E.T. Mensah made this known in Parliament when he read a statement to mark this years World Water Day under the theme water and food security; call for solutions. He noted that soil and water management needs to be promoted to minimize land degradation and water pollution with the view to increasing total food supply chain efficiency. He added that a good and well maintained soil could capture much of the rain water and avert surface run-offs that cause erosion and the loss of soil nutrients.
