Ghana 5- 1 South Africa: U17 Ladies Rout SA To Qualify For World Cup

Ghana made it a hat-trick of appearances at the FIFA Under-17 Womens World Cup finals with a come-from-behind 5-1 win over South Africa in the final round qualifier on Friday. The Black Maidens fightback was inspired by triple goals from striker Alberta Yawo Ahialey and a brace from captain Priscilla Okyere. Bantwana shocked the home side with the opener through Mosili Makhoali after six minutes and soared their self-belief with the first leg ending 0-0. But the Black Maidens stirred up their play and striker Ahialey after 18 minutes when he controlled Okyere pass from the wings before breaking to shooting to draw level. Ahialey with an uncanny nose for goals put Ghana ahead in the 43rd minute with a tap in effort. Again on 38 minutes, Ahailey added the third when she connected home from close range in injury time of the first half. After the break, the Maidens piled incessant pressure and increased the tally through skipper Okyere who lobbed over goalkeeper Moletsane Katlego. Okyere scored a personal double and complete the demolishing exercise with strike from 30-yards which beat the Bantwana goalie. Ghana have now picked one of the three slots for Africa to play at the finals to be hosted by Azerbaijan in September this year. The two other qualifying spots will be contested between Tunisia and Gambia and Zambia against Nigeria this weekend.
