Calm biometric registration in Tamale

The people of the Tamale Metropolis on Saturday joined the nationwide biometric voters' registration exercise which started yesterday. A visit by the GNA to the Bishop Junior School which is the part of the first cluster of polling station indicated that the process is progressing steadily. Registration officials at the centre told the GNA that they had not encountered any challenges. The equipment being used for the exercise includes thumb-print scanner, a laptop computer, a webcam and a printer, which are running on rechargeable batteries. Madam Yunus Fuseni, Registration Officer at the Centre, said patronage was high as GNA also observed a lot of people queuing for their turn. Madam Fuseni said there was also a team of technicians to rectify any challenges that the equipment might present. She urged the general public to fully participate or observe the process since it was new and that it was to enable the Electoral Commission to fully prepare towards a nationwide registration exercise which begins on Saturday 24th March.
