Former President of the Republic of Ghana and founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Jerry John Rawlings, has urged Ghanaians to use the upcoming Easter period to pray to God to deliver the country from the rule of President Mills.
According to Mr Rawlings, the Mills-Mahama led government has proved beyond all reasonable doubt, in its three and a half years� rule, that it has no intention of pursuing or �profiting from the truth.�
�When you find yourself in an unintended pit or hole the wise thing to do is to stop digging. It does not appear the Mills government is able to see the growing darkness around them,� Mr Rawlings explained in a statement issued from his office.
In light of this, JJ says �Ghana needs a real and true awakening�, adding that �the government is fast speeding the country into an abyss and as Easter draws near let us seek God�s guidance in honest, unpretentious prayer of supplication.�
The NDC founder made these remarks in the aftermath of the NDC National Executive Committee�s decision to suspend and revoke the membership of his spokesperson, Kofi Adams as the deputy General Secretary of the party.
According to the ruling party�s founder, the NDC, under the leadership of President Mills has lost so much moral high ground �and now one of the most truthful, forceful, logically minded personalities of integrity in the party leadership is being treated like an outcast to serve a parochial and unpatriotic interest.�
Barely a week to Christmas, last year, President Rawlings said the country had come to a standstill under President Mills as a result of the growing indiscipline presided over by the Mills-Mahama led NDC administration.
The ex-President decried the spate of debauchery in the country under the watch of his former vice president, citing the cocaine exhibit swap at an Accra Circuit Court that has come under high powered investigations.
In the wake of the GH�51 million Woyome saga, President Rawlings also categorically slammed the Mills-Mahama administration over what he described as their inability to tackle corruption, malfeasance and abuse of office headlong.
Mr Rawlings stated: �the corruption of today has gone overboard", but sadly there appears to be virtually no effort at the leadership level to address the social canker, and therefore called for a �massive clean-up�.
