Rawlingses Ditch NDC By Forming New Political Party?

Former President Jerry John Rawlings is reported to have formed a new political party. This latest move by the former president, is seen by many political watchers as likely to split the ruling National Democratic Congress. According to citifmonline, the new party to be called National Democratic Party (NDP) is yet to be given total clearance by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, but is gathering the numbers from grassroots across the country. Citifmonline.com sources said the idea of forming the new political party was proposed by a number of groups who have visited the office of former President Rawlings on several occasions to express their allegiance to him. These groups have formed political movements dotted across the country and growing by the day. The former first couple is currently out of the country and indications are that they are frantically sourcing for funds to facilitate the running of the party. Prior to the Sunyani Congress, which named President John Mills as the flagbearer of the party for the 2012 elections, there were speculations that the former first couple are likely to form a new political party should Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings lose the elections.
