Man Kills Girlfriend

A 32-year-old petty trader at Twifo Praso, Kwesi Mintah, who thought he could murder his 40-year-old girlfriend, Ama Gyimah, and go scot free, has found himself in the grips of the law. Mintah, who was arrested by the Twifo Praso District Police Command last Friday, has been remanded into prison custody to re-appear at the Praso Magistrate Court on April, 13, 2012. Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the District Police Commander, DSP Nana Ofori, stated that the two had stayed together as husband and wife for the past five years even though no marriage ceremony had been performed. DSP Nana Ofori said on that fateful day, they had a misunderstanding, compelling Mintah to beat Ama until she became unconscious. DSP Ofori stated that a Good Samaritan in the house therefore called the police and on reaching the place, they saw Ama Gyimah on the floor bleeding in the room. He noted that Ama Gyimah, who had defecated on herself, had a deep cut on her chest, a situation which compelled them to rush her to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital where she died the next day. Mintah, upon interrogation, allegedly told the police that it was just a small misunderstanding that ensued between them and that he did not know what motivated him to kill the wife. Information DAILY GUIDE gathered in the town indicated that Mintah killed Gyimah because she had earlier suggested they separate since he did not take good care of her. Information further indicated that Mintah never contributed a pesewa to the funeral of Gyimahs mother which was recently held in the area.
