Man burns childrens hands in fire for stealing fish For stealing two pieces of fish, two boys both under 10 years, have been subjected to horrendous punishment by their father, at Juaso in the Ashanti Region. The heartless father, Kwadwo Nornituo, held the right hands of both boys, aged six and eight, over fire burning them severely. Not only that, he also burned the lips of the boys in another bout of torture in order to inflict more excruciating pain on them for stealing. Nornituo succeeded in punishing the boys, but his cruelty attracted neighbours who responded to the loud wailing of the boys because they could not stand the pain at that point. The neighbours called in the police who arrested him, and after investigations put him before court. Charged with causing unlawful harm, Nornituo pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court. Police Detective Inspector Emmanuel Kobla Atatsi told the court, presided over by Justice S.K. Sarpong Appiah that the victims are the biological children of the convict from a previous marriage. The children Jived with their father and his new wife, Mary Tweneboah, at Brantuokrom near Agogo. According to the police, on March 10, this year, the step mother fried some fish and kept them in her room and left for the farm. When she returned, she discovered that two pieces of the fish were missing and questioned the little boys who confessed to eating them. Nornituo got angry on hearing that and grabbed them and held their right hands over the fire. Dissatisfied, he also burnt their lips. The children could not stand the excruciating pain and therefore cried out loudly to attract neighbors who rushed to the house to rescue and send them to the unit committee of the area. Nornituo was arrested and handed over to the police.
