The spokesperson for former President Rawlings and former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decried the way and manner he was suspended from the party, describing it as "somebody's prejudiced position... that was visited on NEC members" Kofi Adams was suspended by the party�s NEC after a leaked tape with a voice purported to be his was heard saying he will do everything possible to prevent President John Mills from securing the mandate of Ghanaians for a second term. The suspended Deputy General Secretary believed he was not given the chance to defend his stance that the voice on the tape was not his. �Nobody has played any tape to me� At the NEC meeting, no member was given the opportunity to hear anything, so it was somebody�s prejudiced position that he or she has picked from the external discussion that he or she brought and visited it on NEC members leading them to take a decision� he said. Adding �they (NEC members) did not listen to the tape; before taking any decision at the NEC meeting�, he added. According to him, he was given an unfair hearing, juxtaposing his case with a similar one that happened with the a former General Secretary of the NDC, Josiah Ayeh �At the time they were hearing the case, he was still serving as a General Secretary. They gave him (Josiah Ayeh) a hearing before they went on to suspend him� he stated, adding, but Sacut, you can�t believe it that as I speak with you now, nobody has played any tape to me�. General Secretary of the Party, Johnson Asiedua Nketia has said continually that the right thing is being done with hoe this case is being handled but Kofi Adams thinks otherwise. He said basic constitutional processes were not followed. Kofi Adams who s still serving his suspension says he is seeking advice from his lawyers to take legal action against the party for which he belong. In an interview with XFM 95.1 on the New Voices Show, Kofi Adams stated categorically that the party constitution does not say a member holding a position in the party when found fault with should be suspended as a member but rather must be made to step down from the position he or she is occupying.
