Although founder of the Jesus Blood Prophetic Ministry, Prophet Kofi Yirenkyi aka Jesus Onetouch was declared a free man last Friday, he has not been able to enjoy his freedom as documentary processes have delayed his release. Scores of anxious supporters including his church members, who were clad in all white attires, on Monday besieged the premises of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons to see Jesus Onetouch released. According to his friend and Public Relations Officer, Prophet Nicholas Osei, aka Kumchacha, he and other colleague pastors had made frantic efforts to deal with all the paperwork needed for Jesus Onetouch�s release but there was a delay resulting in his continued stay in prison. Prophet Kumchacha, who is also the founder of Heaven Gate Ministries International, was however confident that Jesus Onetouch would be released on Tuesday. Prophet Kofi Yirenkyi (Jesus Onetouch) was slapped with a ten-year jail sentence after an Accra Circuit court presided over by Mrs. Georgina Mensah-Datsa found him guilty of incest and defilement of his 10-year old daughter. His lawyers however filed an appeal at an Accra High Court and his conviction was overturned, relying heavily on evidence provided by ACP Dr. Samuel Amo-Mensah, an obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Police Hospital. According to the doctor�s report, even though the victim�s hymen had been broken, it could not have been torn by a penis. He added that �even if there was an indication of penetration it could only have happened with an object of about one meter in size which was about the size of the victim�s vagina.� His acquittal last Friday by the High Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Dzakpasu saw some civil society groups calling for his continued incarceration as others joined forces to appeal against the acquittal and get him back into jail. The Human Rights Advocacy Centre (HRAC), a research and advocacy organization that protects human rights in Ghana, and Child Rights International (CRI), an organization that protects the rights of children, have both expressed shock at the acquittal and discharge. Nana Oye Lithur, Executive Director of HRAC, has asked the Minister of Justice and Attorney General to appeal the case while Bright Appiah, Executive Director of CRI, has called on other advocacy groups to support the campaign by Nana Oye Lithur to appeal Friday�s ruling.
