POTAG 'Happy' With Salary Negotiations

The President of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) Francis Atintornu has described the associations meeting with the Controller and Accountant General as worthwhile and satisfactory. Last month, polytechnic lecturers across the country experienced grave slashes in their salaries amidst other anomalies which generated a lot of controversy. The situation seems to have repeated itself in the March salaries as well. But Mr. Atintornu in an interview with XYZ News said the Controller and Accountant Generals Department demonstrated clear indications that it had already started rectifying the repetition of anomalies in the March salaries of the polytechnic lecturers. We have realized that indeed some of them our salaries have been corrected and some were over paid so the controller is now deducting the over payment. The POTAG members have been agitating over what they say are discrepancies with the new pay policy. Last month, the lecturers went on strike to press home their demands but later rescinded their decision following a meeting with the National Security Coordinator.
