E/R Minister donates items to two SHS

Mr Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister, on Thursday presented relief items estimated at GH 7,000 to two Senior High Schools (SHS) in the area. The schools, Begoro Presbyterian SHS and the AME Zion SHS at Akyem Tafo, were affected by rainstorms over the weekend. The schools had the roofs of their classrooms blocks and dormitories ripped off by the rainstorm. The items presented to the schools included 50 packets of roofing sheets, roofing nails, 120 pieces of hard wood, a 4-burner gas cooker with oven and grill, 47 dining set, 37 large mixing bowls, 20 pieces of Ashets and two boxes each of drinking cups and glasses to the Home Science Department to enable the students write their final examinations. Mr Smith said the quick response was because of the importance government attached to education. He said the better Ghana Agenda required that nothing stood in the way of excellence and government therefore was committed to improve facilities at all schools to facilitate teaching and learning in a good environment. Mr Smith later inspected the seven-kilometre Kukurantumi-Asafo road, which was progressing steadily. The headmaster of the AME Zion SHS, Mr Daniel Okai, was grateful to the minister for the support, particularly the equipment for the Home Science Department since they needed the items urgently to write their practical examinations.
