Inflation Rises To 8.8 From 8.6 Percent

Inflation inched up marginally by 0.2 percent in February this year to record 8.8 percent in March. However, it remained in the single digit bracket for the 22nd consecutive month. Price of goods and services during the month of March went up by 1.2 percent. According to data released by the Ghana Statistical Service, both food and non-food inflation recorded very marginal rise in inflation. This was impacted to some extent by the falling value in the cedi. Dr. Philomena Nyarko, the Acting Government Statistician said at a press conference. The Upper East and West regions recorded the least inflation of 6.3 percent. Central region however recorded the highest inflation of 13 percent while the Greater Accra region recorded an inflation of 9.2 percent.
