God Will Be Visiting Ghana Soon

Back in Accra, we will go straight to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where God will receive prayers for and from the patients before calling on the Chief Executive Officer and the Board Members. For the sake of the sick, he will settle the misunderstanding between the Board and the management team after which he will hold a seminar on the appropriate theme of Essentials of Corporate Governance. He will explain to them why it is necessary for Board members not to interfere in the day-to-day activities of management. Then he will freely distribute handouts on what should be the role of the Board of Directors. To State Transport Corporation God nearly showed his anger at the State Transport Corporation yard at Kaneshie when he demanded to know why the management and staff have shamefully collapsed the organization which was once Ghanas showpiece. Suppressing his anger, he would lecture the leaders on Strategic Management and how to revamp a distressed state enterprise. The Transport Minister will definitely be invited to the yard to answer some questions. He must be prepared to assure Almighty of his plans for the recapitalization of STC. Ghana Airways/Ghana International Airlines God has decided to meet the former staff of the defunct Ghana Airways at the offices of the Ghana International Airlines. He would like to know why the airline collapsed and if they have been paid their end of service benefits or severance award? Was their strategic plan followed? What kind of accounts did they keep? He would find out before going into a closed-door meeting with the former management staff. From there we will move to the White Avenue, the former head office of Ghana Airways, where he will examine the accounts books, audit reports and other important documents. A bottle of Florida Water would have to be sprinkled around this building with the hope that one day, one day, Ghana will have its own airline that would stand the test of time. Nsawam-Apedwa Road Gods entourage will move quickly to inspect work on the Nsawam-Apedwa road and urge the contractors to expedite action since it is one of the countrys major roads. God will look at the drawings and make an input, advising them not to introduce roundabouts like what pertains on the Kumasi road. Still in the Eastern Region, we will rush to Kibi and its environs to see how galamsey activities have destroyed the environment and polluted River Birim, before paying a courtesy call on Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyehene. God will receive his prayers and assure him of his backing at all times. Then there will be a grand meeting with all galamseyers at Asikam after which God will order them to leave for their homes and never return to that dangerous occupation or he would not favour them on judgement day, because his kingdom abhors environmental degradation. The most interesting part of the Eastern Region trip will be when we visit Saamang, my hometown, where my people are struggling on their own to rebuild the D/A Middle School which was destroyed during a rainstorm. Here, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Abass, would be compelled to tell Almighty why the Assembly has failed to assist in rebuilding the school. I am sure Almighty would give him lectures on The role of the district assembly and the DCE in the development of their districts. We will return to Accra the same day and in the evening I will try and take him to dinner at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. He would be pleased to see how the hotel, abandoned for many years, has now been transformed into world class status. Vicinity of St. Johns. Areas around the St Johns Grammar School at Dome, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and Togo Embassy, all in Accra, are the places where God has decided to take his cane along to whip some sense into those females who wear dangerous mini-skirts in the evenings to trap men. Oh, he will also give them a good lecture on HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Move to Northern Region From Nkrumah Circle, we will fly straight to Tamale, the Northern Regional capital, for discussions with Prof Millar of the University for Development Studies. After assessing the infrastructure and human resource needs of the university, God will hold a short seminar on How to turn around a young university into a bigger one. But before then, there will be a little breakfast. Next on the agenda is the Tamale Teaching Hospital to see how far it is evolving into teaching hospital status. After accepting prayers from the hospital staff for their patients, God will urge the nurses to be more patient-friendly. The Brong Ahafo Region Since time is closing in on us, we will rush to Sunyani, pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister and ask him to lead us to inspect the site where President Mills, sometime ago cut the sod for construction work to begin on a new university. We will see the progress of work so far. We would also meet officials of the yet to be established university to ask about the first batch of students to be admitted and the course structure. In Ashanti Region Did you know that Kumasi used to be called the Garden City? We will discuss this after Gods visit. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has already prayed for Almightys visit and he (God) will be going to Manhyia to assure him the prayers are in good hands. We shall visit the Centre for National Culture (former Cultural Centre) to inspect the good work being done by Mr S.A. Adjei and his management team. At KNUST Business School, God will hold a seminar on How to market your business for the lecturers and the senior members. After that it is hoped that aggressive efforts would be made to market the school and its programmes. Journey Back to Accra On our way back to Accra, God will inspect the psychedelic roundabout between KNUST and Ejisu. Gently he would whisper into the ears of the contractor, instructions on modern road design with emphasis on accident-free roundabouts. Trip to Western Region On the fourth and final day of Gods visit, we shall go to the Jubilee Oilfields to congratulate the partners for a good job done. Has the flow meter now been installed? Well, he would get to the bottom of the matter and reveal a small part of his shinny cane to officials whose omission or commission are likely to undermine progress at the oilfields. Visit Wassa Mpohor We will just dash down to Wassa Mpohor East District to see the extent of damage caused by illegal miners who are competing with galamseyers in the Eastern Region and thereby polluting River Pra. My friend Anthony Bassaw, the DCE, is likely to give us lunch. Stopover at New Times, Takoradi God will be addressing a durbar of New Times staff in Takoradi. He will express his appreciation to the staff for the peaceful industrial atmosphere prevailing now in all their offices around the country. He will also have a seminar for the Board Members on Why it is necessary for the Board not to interfere in management activities. He would give a special handshake to the Board Chairman for being able to preside over a difficult corporation. And then he will accept prayers from the staff and assure them of his support at all times. He will also urge the staff to call on him anytime they are facing challenges and he will see them through. Meeting with Media Personnel Gods last assignment will be a meeting with media personnel at the offices of the National Media Commission. He is likely to warn them against sensationalism in an election year, and entreat all newspapers, especially, to give equal publicity to all political parties and their presidential candidates. No need to inflame passion. The Last Mass Before his departure, God will tour the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Accra, conduct mass and advise them to live above reproach, bearing in mind that every child of God would one day stand before the Judgement seat. In conclusion, Gods visit will be a sure blessing for Ghana. But interestingly, although I drew up the programme, he didnt tell me exactly when he would come. This means we need to be alert always to avoid being overtaken by events. If your institution or town is not on the agenda, do not worry because God will come again. Only He knows when.
