DCEs Wife Files For Divorce

The wife of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East, Isaac Kofi Kyeremeh, has filed for a divorce, accusing the DCE of dumping her for a new woman. The DCEs legally wedded wife, Celestina Agyeiwaa, whom he has toiled with for the past 35 years, filed the divorce suit at a Sunyani High Court. Mr. Kyeremeh, according to his estranged wife, had deserted his matrimonial home for the past fours and had also refused to maintain her for the past seven years. He doesnt want to see my face at all or hear my voice. Anytime I call him on the phone, he barks at me and cuts the call, the visibly-disturbed woman told DAILY GUIDE. Madam Agyeiwaa is therefore praying the court to dissolve the 36-year-old marriage which has produced eight children. She indicated that the marriage had broken down beyond reconciliation after her husband disregarded the good counsel of some chiefs in the area she consulted to mediate. She is also seeking the courts intervention to restrain Mr. Kyeremeh from selling the house she and her children were currently living in at Dormaa Ahenkro, as well as an order compelling the respondent to pay a reasonable amount of money to her as alimony. When contacted, the DCE claimed that he had not been served with any writ about the divorce. He told DAILY GUIDE that the woman was not of sound mind and that she could choose to do whatever pleased her. Fifty-three-year-old Agyeiwaa explained to DAILY GUIDE that whilst struggling with her husband through lifes difficulties, God had great mercy on him when former President Jerry John Rawlings appointed him as the district secretary for then Dormaa Ahenkro District in 1994.
