Machoman Killed

ONE MACHOMAN was murdered and another seriously wounded in Denkyira Obuasi, a community in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region last Friday in a bloody clash that rocked the community. The deceased was beaten to death while the other survived the ordeal allegedly perpetrated by some unidentified youth of the area with the third victim fleeing for his life. The identities of the trio were not known and no arrest had been made regarding the murder as at the time of filing this report. The wounded suspect is receiving treatment at a hospital under police guard while the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Dunkwa-On-Offin mortuary. Opanin Kwarteng of Spark FM in Dunkwa-On-Offin told DAILY GUIDE that the bloody incident occurred in the community at about 3:30 am last Friday. Sources close to the community alleged that the machomen were hired from Nima in Accra by the chief of the area, Nana Adjei Nkyinie II, to capture one Alhaji for threatening his him. According to a source at the District Police Command, the Alhaji had threatened the chief to abdicate or risk being attacked. Terrified at the threat, Nana Adjei Nkyinie lodged a complaint with the Upper Denkyira East Police Command in the hope of being given protection. The chief who confirmed the incident told the paper in an interview that he later arranged for the three machomen from Accra to provide him security because the police failed to act on his complaint. At about 3:30 am on Friday, the three private security guards reportedly went to the house of the Alhaji and arrested him with the explanation that they were officers of the National Security who had been ordered to effect his arrest. The chief described the apprehension of the Alhaji as a successful citizen arrest with no intention of harming or killing him and wondered why his opponent should attack them culminating in the death of one of them. He said as the hired men were taking the Alhaji away, his wife screamed for help attracting people in the community to rush out to attack them. In the process, one of the machomen was killed and another survived with severe wounds while one escaped.
