William Dowokpor Charges Youth

Progressive Peoples Partys (PPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, William Dowokpor, has charged the youth of Ghana, especially those in tertiary institutions, to take responsibility for their future by offering their fullest support for the transformational development agenda the PPP seeks to offer the people of Ghana. Addressing members of the University of Ghana Chapter of the Progressive Youth Movement, the youth wing of the PPP, on Friday night, William Dowokpor said Ghanaians were matured enough to judge for themselves when they saw and felt development in their lives, without any promptings from those who claimed to have brought unprecedented development to the country. It will forever remain mere propaganda, the achievements of any administration unless we develop through national consensus a shared national development agenda transparently implemented and with integrity under an incorruptible leadership, he said. Explaining the PPPs agenda of Change Ghanaians Can See and Feel in Their Lives, William Dowokpor said the PPP was seeking the mandate of Ghanaians at the December elections to enable them begin the implementation of a transformational developmental agenda that would within one generation transform Ghana into a capable, just, disciplined, great and strong high-income country, where no citizen would be anxious about the basic necessities of life such as food, education, health and jobs; where every Ghanaian child would be given equal opportunity to develop their potential to the fullest. Just as 55 years ago, the eyes of the world were on Ghana when we won political independence. We are being watched again as we struggle for transformational development. The truth however is that transformational development will not happen if we continue to support and maintain the NDC/NPP duopoly, he charged. William Dowokpor blamed the violence surrounding the biometric registration exercise on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying they both were motivated by their desire to have undue electoral advantage over each other through gerrymandering, after they had both failed to build strong institutions and systems for peaceful conduct of elections for the two decades they governed Ghana. He cautioned the nations youth against offering themselves as NDC/NPP strong men moving from one polling station to the other to physically prevent others from registering. As future leaders, the decisions you make today will determine what Ghana you lead tomorrow. I urge you to think progressive and campaign hard for the change we can all feel in our lives, he charged.
