Eric Bekoe: I Will Join Kotoko Next Season

Former Asante Kotoko and Petrojet striker, Eric Kwabena Bekoe has revealed that he will make a return to Kumasi Asante Kotoko next season. The potent attacker said he would love to re-launch his career in the country just like how fellow former Ghanaian International Laryea Kingston has done with Accra Hearts of Oak. There is no football going on in Egypt so all foreign players have gone back to their respective countries until peace is restored, he stated in an interview with Peace FMs Sir Kaka while giving a reason for his sudden return. He added that he is left with his last season with the Egyptian club but will make a u-turn to the porcupine warriors next season. I didnt want to disclose this but I will definitely join Kotoko next season so that I play in Africa again, he concluded. The 25-year-old striker could not hide his excitement after Kotokos 2-1 win over bitter rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi over the weekend. He recalled that in two previous encounters that he featured in, it all ended in a draw but was happy this current squad had fulfilled his heart desire. Today is the happiest day in my life because my colleagues have beaten Hearts, infact I am happy today, he repeated. The former goal king is currently in the country training on his own due to the political unrest going on in Egypt. In the season 2007/08, with a total 17 goals in 23 matches he became the "Goal King" (top scorer) of the then One Touch Premier League and League Champion with Kotoko. He also won the Presidents Cup with them in the same season. On December 6, 2008, Eric Bekoe signed a four (4) and half years contract with Egypt Premier League club Petrojet. He was set to join Egypt giants Zamalek, but instead Petrojet made a very quick move and the player welcomed it. He became the third non Egyptian player for the club.
