NDC Replies NPP: Our Civil Members Do Not Use Inflammatory Language

The National Democratic Congress has rejected calls by the New Patriotic Party calling for the arrest of its members who have also made some inflammatory statements in the past. In a statement by the partys propaganda secretary, Richard Quashigah, NPP members have over demonstrated a character of violence and are the ones who supposed to be arrested and prosecuted. We wish to state that if indeed members of any political group in this country deserve being arrested for seditious and inflammatory comments close to the reckless, ethnocentric, nation breaking hate speech by Kennedy Agyapong, then it is he Jake Obetsebi Lamptey; who called on Ashantis to demonstrate courage as their counterparts in Ivory Coast did through force of arms and his flag bearer Akufo-Addo, who urged Akan youths to take up arms against the established and accepted status quo and if they die in the process it does not matter because All die be die. Below is the full statement PRESS STATEMENT For Immediate Release 20TH APRIL 2012 NDC RESPONDS TO NPPS CALL FOR ARREST OF NDC MEMBERS The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is highly incensed and dismayed by the call by the NPP National Chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, that the Police should arrest NDC members who have made nation wrecking and ethnocentric diatribes similar to that of Kennedy Agyapongs, to prove that the police is not pursuing selective justice. It stated that the NDC General Secretary Johnson Aseidu Nketiah said there will be civil war should electronic Verification be used during the December general elections. That attribution to the NDC chief scribe is untrue and we challenge Jake and his party to produce proof. Not to talk about Anthony Karbos invectives that Ghana would be like Afghanistan if NPP is not declared winners in the December elections or the use of guns in jungle-like warfare by Mark Manu, former National Chairman of NPP and Sammy Awukus call on TESCON members to ready themselves for violence. It is they who deserve to lead the pack of those who should be arrested. It must be reiterated that Jakes infamy for violence and his stupendous lies are not lost on us. The NPP by its character and historical antecedents is not democratic neither does it subject itself to agreed norms and values that hold groups with divergent views in our society together. Anytime the NPP feels disadvantaged by accepted societal norms and values, it sets aside laid down rules and proceed with jungle law. Forebears of the NPP having failed with the Matemeho agenda gave Ghanas first President Kwame Nkrumah sleepless nights through attempts on his life to series of state destabilization activities. The paws of the NPP today have not changed from those of its forebears; judging from the kinds of nation wrecking comments that are made consistently by its leaders and the wobbling illogical and insulting justifications adduced for them anytime they are confronted. What is terribly nauseating is the conscious effort to hero worship their captains of violence and lawlessness as is in the case of Kennedy Agyapong, who is paranoiac about being a blue eyed Ghanaian. The glorification of villainy and support for call to arms by the NPP is not only nauseating but a real danger to the sustenance of peace in this country; peace which is needed for the much craved development and societal forward march. We wish therefore to advice the NPP to rather apologize to Ghanaians and demonstrate that they hold dear the peace of this nation rather than seeking a non- existent political equalization. We wish to reiterate our commitment and support to the police administration to carry out its professional duties without fear or favour in the maintenance of law and order. Signed Richard Quashigah National Propaganda Secretary.
