Ghana Boss Kwesi Appiah Lays Down Marker

Newly appointed Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah has laid down the marker by insisting discipline will play a cardinal role during his tenure. The Black Stars failure to win the 2012 African Cup of Nations was attributed to perceived indiscipline and divisions among the players during the continental showpiece. Ghana Federation boss Kwesi Nyantakyi admitted during a post Cup of Nations conference that some players reportedly played to achieve personal fame, prominence and excellence to the detriment of the team. The ex-Asante Kotoko defender who has been tasked with winning next years African Cup of Nations in South Africa and reach the semi-finals of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil is keen to restore discipline in the team to achieve his aim. Discipline is one my greatest philosophies and so that will be one principle that will key during my tenure, Appiah said There has to be total unity in the team and anyone who wants to be in y team must abide the teams code of conduct. Those who falter wont be tolerated. We will find a way to deal with them, It will be recalled that Appiahs predecessor Goran Stevanovic bemoaned the use of black magic by the players in his post-Nations Cup reports. The statement was a damning indictment of the mindset of these professionals, who are mostly European base and are usually expected to believe in the ability of hardwork and the scientific process to achieve rewards on the field.
