Vice-Prez Mahama Replies Ex-Prez Kufuor

Vice President John Dramani Mahama has sharply shot back at Ex-President Kufuor for describing the treason charges leveled against the NPP MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong as using a sledge hammer to kill a fly saying if he had his way, he will trample it with a bulldozer. In his first official comment on the alleged ethnocentric statement by the Assin North MP and the former president's admonishing to government not to treat the Ken Agyapong saga like killing a fly with a sledge hammer, Mr Mahama stated that if he had his way, he will trample it with a bulldozer. He was addressing hundreds of students belonging to the NDC's Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), on the KNUST campus. The NPP MP was arrested last week for making inflammatory comments and declaring war on Accra-based radio station, Oman FM. He has been granted bail by an Accra Fast Track High Court in the sum of GH200,000 with one surety to be justified. In apparent reaction to ex-President Kufuors statement, John Mahama, who advised NDC supporters to refrain from using intemperate language as the December elections approaches, stressed that advocacy for violence of ethnicity "should not be taken lightly". There is no way advocacy for violence of ethnicity should be something that we say you are killing a fly with a sledge hammer. That fly must not arise at all and if I had my way youll not kill it with a sledge hammer, but well trample it with a bulldozer because without Ghanas unity and integrity, well have no nation...the whole nation must rise up and say what he said was absolutely unacceptableIt is the silence of those who should speak for the truth that makes evil triumph, the Vice President said.
