Save A kidney Donation

The month of April saw a rather unique and laudable project by Peace FM in partnership with the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) and its subsidiary, the Christian Community Microfinance Limited (CCML) in association with the 37 Military Hospital, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.

The project, dubbed "Save a Cedi to Save a Kidney", sought to build and stock an ultra-modern renal center at the 37 Military Hospital to help aid the rising incidence of kidney malfunction in the country.

The "Save a Cedi to Save a Kidney" project which expects the public to text Kidney to short code 1962 across all networks, began on December 15 and will end on December 15, 2012.

Peace FM, as part of its corporate social responsibility, decided to use its flagship programme, "Kokrokoo", hosted by multiple-award winning presenter Kwami Sefa Kayi to solicit funds from its loyal listeners, benevolent corporate bodies and other generous individuals towards the realization of the project when one of the panel members Kwesi Pratt Jnr mooted the idea.

Initially, the host wanted to raise GHC 10,000 but at the end of a day's show, that figure had been realized, thus he was encouraged to extend the period of the donation.

This laudable initiative, spearheaded by the CCG and championed by the versatile bald-headed morning show host, gained enormous endorsement when after a little over two weeks of drumming up support for the kidney project, Peace FM presented an amount of GH₵300,278.00 to the CCG and the 37 Military Hospital.

The donation was made in the studios of Peace FM by Chairman General, Kwami Sefa-Kayi to General Secretary of the CCG, Rev Fred Deegbe, who was in the company of some members from the CCG and a military officer from the 37 Military Hospital.

Peace FM wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to all individuals, groups and philanthropic organizations who supported either in cash or in kind in making the "Save A Kidney Project" a success. Words cannot express our gratefulness as we would have wished; it is our prayer that the Supreme One above, our Gracious God will reimburse and reward you openly and appropriately.

Peace FM and the Despite Group of Companies say Thank You and God bless you all.
