Ghana Wunderkind Atsu Named Rio Ave Player Of The Season

Ghanaian whiz kid Christian Atsu Twasam was named Player of the Season on Wednesday night by Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave. The 20-year-old, on loan from giants FC Porto, was played a starring role in Rio Ave�s survival this season. His six goals in 26 appearances proved key in beating three candidates to the award. The former Cheetah FC player believes the award is yet another morale booster for his young career. �I won the award yesterday and I�m very excited about it. It shows that I�m really doing well and improving,� Atsu exclusively told MTNFootball.com �I believe strongly in God and everything I do and believe Porto is watching my progress.� Atsu is widely expected to return to his parent club FC Porto after the end of the current Portuguese season. He won the FIFA Blue Stars Youth Cup best player award in August 2011 and went ahead to lift the FC Porto Best Young Player Award the same year.
