Ghana's World Cup Opponents Zambia To Play Angola In Friendly

Zambia will play their first post-Africa Cup of Nations triumph friendly on May 16 against Angola. The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said on Thursday that the match will be played in Luanda on Wednesday. However, the team to face Angola will comprise almost wholly of home-based players. The team are expected to go into camp in Lusaka on Sunday ahead of departure tentatively set for Tuesday and return home immediately after the match. Zambia have been dormant since winning a first-ever Nations Cup in Libreville Gabon on February 12 when they beat Cote dIvoire 8-7 on post-match penalties after the game finished scoreless at the end of extra-time. Meanwhile, this will be the two teams second meeting in six months after Angola beat Zambia 1-0 away in another friendly in early December in Dondo. Zambia have another proposed friendly against Egypt planned for May 25 in Morocco but FAZ said they are still considering the game due to the logistics involved. The 2012 African champions play their first competitive match on June 2 away to Sudan in a Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D opener in Khartoum.
