The Managing Director of GLICO General Insurance Company (GLICO GENERAL), Mrs. Francisca Karikari, has been honoured with the �Innovative Woman In Business & the Workplace with Leadership Qualities� award. The award ceremony, which was held at the National Theatre of Ghana, Accra, was organized by the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (GWIIN), in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (WOMAC). This prestigious award is given in recognition of the extremely valuable contribution that individuals or organisations have made that is inspiring with leadership qualities; that motivate other women to be high achievers and successful in the workplace and business environment. GWIIN Awards are mostly targeted at women in order to boost the percentage of women in innovative leadership positions. Mrs Karikari was nominated by one of her staff members who recognized her outstanding contribution to the growth and success of GLICO GENERAL. She indicated among other things that �She is a motivator and always seeks to bring out the best in people. She believes women can reach greater heights with education and a determination to succeed and she is always inspiring us to reach for our dreams by acquiring more knowledge.� Mrs. Karikari for her outstanding performance has also received the prestigious Nobles International Award. An award presented to her by the West Africa Nobles Forum for men and women who have excelled in their various chosen fields thereby earning for themselves a reputation beyond the shores of their countries and above all upholds the virtues of honesty and accountability. It is instrumental to note that GLICO GENERAL under the leadership of Mrs. Karikari has won many laurels. It was the only non-life insurance company to receive the Business and Financial Services Excellence Award for 2010-11 instituted by the International Christian Business Excellence Ghana. GLICOGENERAL has also been awarded A-Rating by the Global Credit Rating Company (GCRC), for meeting its claims obligation appropriately, that is, for the prompt payment of claims to policyholders. GCRC is a world-renowned organization which rates insurance companies on the basis of their financial capabilities and technical underwriting skills. Besides the GCRC rating, GLICOGENERAL ranks second in the category of non-life insurance companies on the list of the Ghana Club 100 which comprises the most successful business enterprises in the country. Furthermore, it is among the first ten most capitalized general insurance companies in Ghana.
