A couple were on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, fiercely attacked and raped by three armed robbers at Akweley Peace Town, a Kasoa suburb in the Central Region. The robbers had tracked the couple from the Central Business District of Accra to their home at Kasoa. A source said immediately the couple got out of their vehicle at about 8:30pm, three men armed with locally manufactured pistols and a machete, attacked them and robbed them of GH2000 and other valuables, after which they gangraped the 29-year-old wife of the complaint. The three had raped the lady in turns right under the watch of her husband. This was after the man had been brutalized by the marauding robbers, leaving him with a bruised eye. After unleashing their libido on their victim, they packed their booties into the couples car and bolted. They however, abandoned the vehicle at Ofankor New Town. The police have since recovered the car. Some of the items the robbers took away were a television set, DSTV decoder, two mobile phones, eight pieces of wax print, two pieces of kente cloth and a number of jewelries. The Kasoa District Police Commander, Ebenezer Asare, who confirmed the incident told Daily Guide that his outfit would arrest the robbers and bring them to book. He however called on the municipal assembly to consider constructing some of the town roads which he said were in a bad condition, adding that the robbers could have been arrested but because there were no clear cut routes to the incident scene, they escaped. He also called on residents who might know the whereabouts of the robbers to help the police by volunteering information.
