Sanction JJ And Wife

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the national Democratic Congress (NDC) has been charged to apply the necessary sanctions on the partys founder, Jerry John Rawlings, and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to help instill discipline and calm in the party and to give members a clear sense of direction. A former cadre of the party, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah, who made this statement, said the position of the former President; Jerry John Rawlings and his wife has become untenable, it is a deception and a betrayal of the party which we all have suffered till now. Even though Mr. Amoako-Nsiah could not explicitly mention what sanctions should be placed on the partys founder and his wife, he stated clearly that the NDC is not a conservative party but a socialist one, hence whatever sanctions available for people who betray the unity and course of the party must be applied on the former first couple. If any of us did what they are doing now we would be immediately sanctioned so what is NEC waiting for to do the right thing so that sanity and decorum would prevail in our party, the former cadre advised. Mr. Amoako-Nsiah said this after addressing a cross-section of journalists in Kumasi on the supposed formation of a new political party by former President Rawlings and his wife on June 4 in the Volta Region. The press conference was organized by the national executive of the Umbrella Unit for Action (UUFAL) and some cadres of the 31st December Revolution yesterday. Addressing journalists earlier, Mr. Amoako-Nsiah said they considered the continued criticism by the former president of the Prof Mills-led government as a means to put the government on its toes, asserting further that government reacted positively and performed overwhelmingly. However, he noted, after the Sunyani congress the criticisms turned into attacks and further exploded on the 15th of May, 2012 during the 31st December Womens Movements 30th anniversary celebrations in Accra. According to him, rumors flying around indicated that their founder and his wife were planning to form a new political party in the Volta Region and that they intend to use the partys cadres and foot soldiers whose sweat and toil helped to form and sustain the NDC party. We would like to state that it was the collective efforts of all forward looking Ghanaians who came together to bring the NDC into being and worked assiduously to campaign and bring the party into power both in the first NDC government and this current one.
