8 Injured In Tema Steel Explosion

Eight workers of Tema Special Steels Limited were reportedly caught in red hot fire last night after the steel smelting equipment they were working on accidentally exploded, splashing the liquid fire on them. The injured, according to workers who spoke to The Finder, were rushed to the Raphal Medical Centre at Tema Community 10 for treatment. According to the workers, last night�s fire explosion was the third in recent times and by far the worst. Speaking to The Finder, Dr Addo Johnson, the medical director of Raphal Medical Centre, confirmed admitting some eight injured workers of Special Steels Limited. He said the injured were rushed to the facility at about 11:30pm Tuesday, but after examining the conditions of the patients one had to be transferred to the Tema General Hospital due to the seriousness of the injury. Dr Addo described the injuries as not life threatening, but admitted the injuries were serious. He said the one the facility had to transfer to the Tema General Hospital sustained deep wounds and lots of burns, adding, �So after giving him immediate attention I asked that he should be transferred to the General Hospital. I understand he would be transferred to the 37 Military Hospital.� At the time of going to press, the cause of the explosion had not yet been established.
