Fifi Kwetey Has Never Spoken Economics. Snr. Economist

A former Senior Economist at the Research Department of The Bank of Ghana, and the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for New Juabeng South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah has described deputy Minister of Finance Fifi Kwetey, as an economist who never speaks economics but is only interested in grammar that has no economic bearing and constantly attacks personalities. Dr. Assibey-Yeboah said as a former propaganda secretary and now a deputy Minister of Finance, all Mr Kwetey does is to speak grammar that has nothing to with economics and the issues of the day. He gave instances where Mr. Fifi Kwetey veered off major economics discussions and resorted to unremitting grammar that does not correspond or enlighten the issue on board, including the governments response to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumias recent lecture on The Real State of Ghanas Economy a couple of weeks ago. Dr. Assibey-Yeboah said that unlike Fifi Kwetey, Dr. Bawumia, the former Deputy Governor of The Central Bank spoke economics and assessed the real state of Ghanas economy. He asserted that Dr. Bawumia elucidated on the relationships between inflation and the cost of living, interest rate and exchange rate and questioned why the trumpeted single digit inflation was not reflecting in low interest rates. Dr. Assibey-Yeboah stated that in response to the above observations by Dr. Bawumia, you have a deputy minister of Finance who instead of explaining the anomalies or telling us that we are not seeing the effect because of A, B, C and D, comes and says oh, the economy was in intensive care, the NPP left a calamitous economy and all that. Is that economics? Dr. Assibey-Yeboah made the observation in an interview with Adomonline.com at a handing over ceremony of the Tertiary Education Confederacy Network (TESCON) at the Koforidua Polythenic.
