Ivorians With Truck Load Of Guns Arrested

Officials of the Customs Exercise and Preventive Service (CEPS) in Asawase in the Ashanti Region have intercepted a truck load of guns that were being transported to Accra. The occupants of the truck, numbering about four young men believed to be coming from Cote D�Ivoire, were arrested after the CEPS officials inspected the vehicle. According to Radio XYZ's Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Bediako, the customs officers impounded the vehicle after finding AK 47 ammunitions in the truck. The Ashanti Regional Security Council is currently meeting to commence investigations into the incident. The young men are however being held by the Police at Amakom pending the outcome of the investigations. Issac Bediako reports that the Police have failed to give details on the number of weapons but have assured to disclose the necessary information on Thursday after preliminary investigations have been conducted.
