The Minister of Youth and Sports Kofi Humador has insisted that there are no anomalies with the 2010 Fifa World Cup account despite concerns raised by the Minority in parliament.
The Minority ranking member on Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah raised the flag over the expenditure saying the report presented by the former Minister of Youth and Sports stood at US$7.195m in November 2012, but that the figure had increased to $16,998,995.37 this year.
But speaking to Peace Fm on Wednesday, the Minister of Youth and Sports Kofi Humador explained that the initial report was only an interim report. �Certain payments had not been done at the time of Sena Dansoa (former Minister of Youth and Sports) presentation,� he said. �It was an interim report she presented. Further payments were made, while further revenues have accrued ever since."
The Keta Member of parliament insisted that as an accounting principle, reports are only made based on expenditure and revenues at the time the report is being made. He also added that the Ministry is set to release a press statement to explain the issues later on in the day.
The issue came up when the Minister appeared before Parliament to answer questions regarding how much was spent on Ghana�s participation at the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
The expenditure covered the Black Stars camping and training tour in Europe as well as expenses on supporters and Ghana�s participation in the tournament.
