Easy access to water to fight fire seems to be a major headache of the Ghana National Fire Service. This is because most of fire hydrants in the cities have either been vandalised or encroached upon. The Ghana Water Company also seems to have reneged on its responsibility to frequently maintain the fire hydrants. The Accra Metropolitan Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Urban Water Company Limited has therefore mounted an exercise to reactivate some of the discussed fire hydrants in Accra.
