Let Peace Prevail - Dr. Bawumia

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has asked Ghanaians to continuously pray and work toward unity and peace before, during and after this years elections. Dr. Bawumia made this call today when he joined fellow Muslims in Madina, Accra for Friday Jummah prayers. Speaking to the Muslim Ummah (congregants) after the prayers, in Hausa, Dr. Bawumia said I am here to ask you to remember to constantly say a prayer for the nation especially in this crucial election year. It is important that we go into this election and emerge out of it as one united nation ready to move into a new era of development and transformation and this would depend on our prayers and our commitment to the course of this nation. The Imam of the Mosque, Shiek Abdallah in his hutuba advised parents and all Ghanaians to take keen interest in the education of their wards. He noted that the only true path to eliminating poverty was through quality education and urged Ghanaians not to joke with education. Dr. Bawumia in his interactions stated that he was happy that the Imam of the Mosque had spoken about education. He pointed out that the Nana Akufo-Addo had decided to prioritize education and make Senior High School free because the NPP realized that it was critical for the nations future. He said that the fight against poverty could not be won without education and noted that to boost growth and transform the society, it was necessary for Ghana to build a skilled and educated human resource base. This could only be done through prioritizing quality education, the NPP running mate indicated. Dr. Bawumia was at the Mosque in the company of the National Coordinator of Nasara, Alhaji Abubakar Sulemana and some executives of the NPP at the Madina-Abokobi constituency.
