NMC Warns State-Owned Media...

The National Media Commission (NMC) has admonished all State-owned media to ensure fairness and objectivity to all political parties in their reportage before, during and after the December general elections. This, the Commission said, is in fulfillment of the provision in the Constitution of Ghana which spells out fair and equitable coverage for all political parties. This provision was outlined on Tuesday at a workshop organised by the National Media Commission. The guidelines, according to the Commission, will amongst other things task the state-owned media to attend and report on press conferences organized by all political parties. It is also to ensure neutrality in advertising space for all parties. Speaking to Citi News, the Executive Secretary of the National Media Commission, George Sarpong said, to avoid accusations of bias and also to encourage fairness, the state-owned media have to be guided by these principles.
