Exercise To Bring Sanity Into Ghanaian Retail Market Not Aimed At Sacking Foreigners - Minister

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Hannah Tetteh has explained that the exercise to get rid of foreigners in Ghana's retail trade is to ensure that they comply with the laws of Ghana. She debunked the notion that the exercise is aimed at sacking foreigners from the country. Madam Tetteh told Radio Ghana that all foreign traders are required to register their businesses with the Ghana Revenue Authority, pay income tax and charge VAT on their sales, have valid residence and work permits. These requirements she explains apply to all foreigners including ECOWAS citizens insisting that most of the requirements apply to even Ghanaian citizens.
