Government Disappointed With The Rawlingses...

The ruling NDC administration has expressed disappointment over the formation of a new political party by the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and some other stalwarts of the NDC. Deputy Minister for Information in an interview with XYZ News said it is unfortunate that the tension between President Mills and the Rawlingses has deteriorated forcing the first family to breakaway ahead of the December polls. Mrs. Rawlings together with former NDC General Secretary, Dr Josiah Aryeh and a few others close to the Rawlingses have ended months of speculations and rumours by forming the National Democratic Party. Information gathered indicates that Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is likely to lead the party into the December elections. However, the former deputy Tourism Minister James Agyenim Boateng says government is disappointed things have gotten to this stage even though several measures were taken to solve the bickering. For us as a party, for us as a government, we would have wished that it would never come to thisbut unfortunately this is where we are according to the reports out there. Meanwhile, a Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) says the NDP is entering the political game a bit too late. According to Mr. Kwesi Amakye, he doubts if Mrs. Rawlings can attract any membership for the new party besides her close friends and allies. Time is not on her side, Political mobilization between now and December will not involve new political participants. I dont expect floating voters to move to the camp of Nana Konadu given the controversy that surrounds the whole political movement.
