A man contracted by one Prince Obeng to print t-shirts with President Mill�s picture embossed on the front and Assin North MP Kennedy Agyapong�s at the back, has been arrested by the Assin Fosu District Police Command at Assin Fossu in the Central Region. The Assin North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alex Antwi-Boasiako, is said to have caused the arrest of the man, Okine Obeng, on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. A staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prince Obeng, also known as Korjor, described the party as shameful due to the Antwi-Boasiako�s behavior. He said it was �shameful when one makes it known to the public that you belong to the NDC whose executives cannot control its members when they go wayward�. He stated that the MCE was destroying the party in the area but all the bigwigs of the party in the Central Region had not called him to order, creating a lot of confusion and tension within the party in the area. In view of that, he said had defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and would ensure his followers vote for NPP. Mr Obeng said he asked Okine to print the t-shirts with President Mills� picture in front and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong�s at the back, indicating their readiness to vote skirt and blouse. He added that he was surprised when the regional police command arrested Obeng who printed the t-shirts, instead of him who gave Okine the contract. Okine, who was arrested on Wednesday, has been granted bail and is expected to report daily at the. �If the NDC bigwigs in the region felt I have committed a crime by printing the T-shirts, they should come and arrest me and leave the innocent man who is only doing his work out of the issue,� he said. Mr Obeng claimed that he used his car to convey the MCE and other NDC members in the area to campaign in the 2008 general elections but was dumped after the party won the elections. He alleged that the MCE started having problems with him after he refused to give his car to him to go to Tain for the second round of the 2008 elections. He claimed that the MCE even attempted to abrogate a �2.3 billion contract he won from Assin Asempaneye Senior High School PTA to pave way for the MCE to get the contract at the cost of �4.8 billion. When contacted, the MCE disputed the allegation, adding that he did not know anything about the issue. The arrest took place two days after residents of Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) woke up to find printed posters of President Mills and the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Job Acquah Markin, pasted in the constituency.
