Interim General Secretary Of NDP Insists Rawlingses Are Behind New Party

Interim General Secretary of the proposed National Democratic Party, Dr Mamboah Rockson says interim executives of the party have had fruitful discussion with former President Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. Dr Rockson told Radio Ghana�s correspondent that former President Rawlings will certainly leave the NDC to join the NDP. Speculations have been rife that the Rawlingses are firmly behind the formation of the new party but the national executives of the ruling NDC have deferred every action and decision until former President Rawlings and his wife publicly admit their association with the NDP. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission, Sylvia Annor says the Commission is in a dialogue with the National Democratic Party, NDP to ensure that it follows the due process of becoming a certified political party. Speaking on Behind the News, Madam Annor stated that the NDP will only become a fully fledged party after it has satisfied all the requirements by the EC.
