My Song Made Me Marry

One of Africas biggest musical acts, 2Face Idibia, has disclosed that his marriage to longtime fiance Annie Macaulay on Wednesday, May 2 in Nigeria was inspired by his song I Sing. The artiste, who hit the world stage with his smash hit African Queen, released in 2004 after a split form Plantation Boys, stunned the world with his decision to marry, considering his history with women. At a point in time, he was rumoured to have dated and had babies with several women including Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajaba. Born Innocent Ujah Idibia, 2Face told The Juice on Ndani TV that he took the all-important decision after listening to a line in his I Sing song. I listened to my song, Next year I will love to marry and Im like look this next year I want to marry and thats the person (Annie Macaulay). It just happened like that on Valentines Day I just called her hey lets hang out, he said. The Implications star proposed to Annie, the mother of his daughter, Isabella Idibia, on Valentines Day, February 14 this year after 13 years of dating. The choice of date, he said, was just spontaneous; I didnt plan anything but I just knew that this is the person, and he proposed to her. Touching on marriage life, Tu Baba, as he is sometimes known, said, Everything is so far so smooth. Its a new phase and we are growing into it. Weve been friends for a very long time so it is not too difficult to blend. According to the ladies man, he had not broken any heart with his move to finally settle down, jovially stating, The girls they don dey fear me already before I no break anybodys heart. 2Face recently released his fifth album, Away and Beyond. He released his first, Face 2 Face in 2004 followed by Grass 2 Grace in 2006, The Unstoppable in 2008 and The Unstoppable International Edition in 2010. He has won several awards including Best African Act at the Channel O Music Video Awards in 2005, Best Male Video and Best African Video both for African Queen at KORA Awards 2005, and Revelation of the Year at Hip Hop World Awards in 2006.
