Man Chews Wifes Tongue

Yaw Asare Boakye, a 46-year-old Sunyani-based driver at the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, has been arrested by the police for biting his wifes tongue in a brawl at their Tusuom Estate residence. Dora Opoku, 40, the victim, was later rushed to the hospital for medical attention due to the severity of the injury she suffered from the incident. The Sunyani District Crime Officer, Kingsley Wiredu, told DAILY GUIDE that there was evidence of friction between the couple. He said as a result of the problems in their marriage, the man had allegedly assaulted the victim on several occasions. Mr Wiredu, an assistant superintendent of police, said on July 15, Dora was in the house when her husband came in and opened the sound system loudly to the extent that she could not make a telephone call. According to him, the victim complained about the loud noise from the sound system which led to the exchange of offensive words. The suspect, it was gathered, insulted his wife to the extent that he even told her that she had bad breath. That compelled the woman to pull out her tongue for the husband to smell her mouth to check if she indeed had bad breath. In the process, the man held her tongue and bit it. After the incident, the woman was rushed to the hospital and she later lodged a complaint with the police who arrested the husband. Boakye, who is currently on bail, was arrested the same day and cautioned on causing unlawful harm. Investigations are ongoing.
