The Vice President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has bemoaned the situation where voters change their Members of Parliament (MPs) every four years.
According to him, the trend detracts the work of the House as experience counts in Parliament.
He was speaking at the launch of the book - �In Pursuit of my Destiny - Memoirs of a Parliamentarian� - by Kosi Kedem, a former MP for the Hohoe South Constituency.
Vice President Mahama described the country�s parliamentary elections as a game of musical chairs saying, �Unfortunately, Ghana�s parliamentary elections do not put too much store on experience. It�s a game of musical chairs; you�ve had your turn so let me also have my turn and it doesn�t matter what your experiences are.�
He explained that this slows the activities in Parliament because, �new people come in and they have to learn the ropes of law making all over again.�
Mr. Mahama thus asked voters to elect experienced people into Parliament to ensure they can stay on and enhance the work of the House and make effective laws.
