YAW KYEI, the 27-year-old man who murdered his pregnant wife-to-be on the bank of a river at Adiembra in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, has recounted to the police what accounted for his bloody action. Kyei, last week Thursday, killed his fiance and took to his heels but was arrested at Nkoransa near Kumasi. The suspect, a galamsey operator from Anhwiaso in the same district, said he killed 20-year-old Yaa Akyeamaa by hitting her with a club after the victim pulled his penis harshly during a struggle. According to the suspect, the tragic incident happened on the bank of the Atentem River where they had gone to take their bath, which was a usual thing for them. DSP Daniel Anane Amoah, Adansi-Fomena District Police Commander, told DAILY GUIDE the suspect had narrated to police investigators that while he and the deceased were taking their bath beside the river, a misunderstanding ensued between them. The police chief said the suspect claimed he had questioned Yaa Akyeamaa, his fiance, about her alleged flirtation with a certain young man at her Pipiso hometown near Adansi-Aboabo No.2. This, the police commander recounted, angered the deceased, resulting in a heated argument that led to a violent struggle. DSP Amoah asserted that the suspect alleged that the victim, in the process, pulled his penis, and he retaliated by hitting her with a club on the right side of her chest, killing her instantly. The police boss disclosed that the suspect called to inform the deceaseds father about his bloody action before fleeing from the Adiembra community around 9:30pm to Nkoransa near Kumasi. He was arrested and handed over to the Pakyi Number Two police by some young men at Nkoransa who had got wind of his action through a news bulletin on radio, DSP Amoah said. Yaw Kyei, last week, murdered his wife-to-be in cold blood after luring 20-year-old Yaa Akyeamaa from her Pipiso hometown near Adansi-Aboabo No.2 to the Adiembra community on Wednesday afternoon, around 2:00pm. The suspect, DAILY GUIDE gathered, did not show any signs of frustration or anguish before the incident. Yaa Akyeamaa, who was pregnant for the suspect, was hit with a club by her boyfriend, who was known to the deceased persons family as her fianc. According to the mother of the deceased, Ama Kuma, the suspect visited them on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 and said he was taking Yaa to his place of abode at Adiembra. Before they departed, Madam Kuma said she cooked omo tuo for the two love birds, who were in an ecstatic mood. I left them behind to eat, and by the time I returned home they had left to Adiembra where Kyei was resident, Ama Kuma stated amidst sobs. She narrated that one of her sons, the following Thursday evening, reported to her that Kyei had called to inform him that he (Kyei) had killed Yaa Akyeamaa and dumped the body on the bank of a certain stream at Adiemera. Confirming the bloody incident, father of the deceased, Akwasi Boateng, told journalists that Yaw Kyei killed Yaa Akyeamaa for reasons best known to the suspect alone. He narrated that his daughter had been in a relationship with the galamsey operator for the past two years, which relationship was known to them. According to him, Kyei called to inform him he had killed Yaa Akyeamaa and dumped the body at an unknown place, and that he had subsequently turned himself in at a police station in Kumasi. Mr. Boateng said the suspect added that the place could only be located by his friend, whose name he could not recollect. He narrated further that after his wife also returned home with a similar story, they both proceeded to Adiembra where they informed the chief and unit committee members about the reported incident. The girls father said they moved with a search party to look for the dead body, which was discovered later around 10:00pm on Thursday on the bank of River Atentem at Adiemera. According to Mr. Boateng, there were cuts on his deceased daughters chin, left hand, chest and eyebrows, raising suspicion of a struggle before her death. He indicated that Yaw Kyei did not openly show any signs of frustration or resentment towards his daughter, who was pregnant for the suspect. The body of the young woman had since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue in Kumasi, awaiting autopsy while police investigations continued.
